A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES: PEACEKEEPERS – 2015

Peacekeepers follow the stories of an all-female Bangladeshi police unit who served with the U.N. peacekeeping mission to Haiti in the aftermath of the devastating 2010 earthquake. Directors Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Geeta Gandhbhir showcased Peacekeepers at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015 and Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) released the film in March 2019.

“Introducing three individuals taking part in a mission sending Bangladeshi policewomen to Haiti, Geeta Gandbhir and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy invite more doubts than usual about this U.N. intervention. But they leave several big-picture questions underexplored here, preferring to focus without judgement on how the experience affects the three peacekeepers” – The Hollywood Reporter
