SONG OF LAHORE – 2015
Premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival, the film follows the Sachal Jazz Ensemble, a group of Pakistani musicians influenced by jazz, as they travel from their hometown of Lahore to New York City to perform at the Lincoln Center in 2013. The film paints a portrait of the classical musical heritage of Pakistan, the threats to its survival today, and the brave musicians struggling to continue their work.
“Directors Andy Shocken and Oscar-winner Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy offer a moving and uplifting look at cultural preservation and a group of passionate and skillful musicians who risk their own safety to inspire listeners from all over the globe” – Tribeca Film Festival.
